How to Enhance Your Search Engine Rankings

[tweetmeme]There are variety of ways that can help increase your backlinks and rankings in the search engines and therefore gain much needed exposure. Exposure or traffic is almost equivalent to sales – and don’t we all want this?

Here are some ways to achieve this:

Write and Submit Articles
Or if you do not have time, have an article written and submitted to various blogs and articles submission sites. There are many hundreds of article directories and blog sites out there and literally thousands of web sites, ezines and newsletter publishers looking for new and unique content every day.

If you have your own articles with a link back to your site you’re not only branding yourself as an expert but also creating precious back links to your own site. This is a big factor when it comes to search engine rankings which bring the free traffic.

Additionally, you can transform your article to Powerpoint Presentations, PDF format and send it to various sharing sites like DocStoc, Slideshare and Scribd. This additional step will gain you more traffic and backlinks as well.

Videos
Videos are one of the most loved by Google. So try to make some 1 minute videos and submit it to various video sites like YouTube, Daily Motion, Vimeo, and a like. You do not have to have an expertise on video making – you can you Animoto. Just get a bunch of pictures and make several wordings and Animoto will do the rest. Nobody will know you have zero knowledge about video making.

Online Communities and Forums
I cannot reiterate more the importance of joining forums. This will give you benefits 2 ways: One is that you will have backlink if you will have a signature link (a link back to your site on the signature area) and of course you will learn a whole lot more by just reading and replying on comments.

But be aware that most forums do not allow blatant advertising. You have to attempt to add something of worth with your posts or you may get banned.

Social Media
Nowadays, Google also give importance to Social Media. Updates on these are being indexed by search engines. Not only this, but if you have a well maintained social media accounts, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others, you will project an image of an expert on your field.

Exchange Links
This may actually be the most difficult one on my list. You should find sites that are in the same niche as yours but not necessarily in direct competition, of course. And you in return should have a decent ranking in the search engines for this to be effective.

When dealing with webmasters, always approach with grace and dignity. Be tactful and courteous. Just think of how you wanted somebody to approach you when they want to link back to your site – and that will be a good technique.

Doing these things are well, i can say, easy – but this is very time consuming. And this will not be done once or twice but continuously to get good result.

So if you do not have much time on your hands, you can just hire a virtual assistant to help you out.
